Our story

From what we throw away, a forest rises.

Senmorv turns Amsterdam's recycling into living trees — every bottle deposit reborn as roots, leaves, and shade in the places that need it most.

Why the name

The bird that carries every seed.

Senmorv is the oldest name of the Simorgh, the great bird of Persian myth. She nests on a tree standing in the middle of the world's sea — the tree that holds the seed of every plant on earth. Each time she rises, the seeds fall loose, and the rain and the wind carry them out across the world.

Every forest, in that telling, began as something small enough to overlook. Waste works the same way. A bottle, a can, an old phone — each one is something we've decided is finished. We disagree. What others treat as an ending, we treat as the seed of a beginning: collected, converted into revenue, and planted as a tree with its own coordinates, photo, and name.

Nothing here is really thrown away. It just hasn't been carried yet.

How it works

Four steps from bottle to forest.

🍾

You set aside

Statiegeld bottles and cans, plus clothing, glass, and electronics — the things gathering dust in your hallway.

🚲

We collect

Request a pickup and we come to you. No queuing at the machine, no sorting stress.

💶

Deposits become funding

We claim the deposit value and recycling revenue. You watch every euro appear on your dashboard.

🌳

Trees go in the ground

Revenue funds planting in drought-affected regions — each tree tracked from seedling onward.

Radical transparency

Every euro traceable. Every tree real.

Climate promises are easy to make and hard to check. So we made checking the whole point.

  • Every tree is planted with a professional partner and comes with GPS coordinates, a photo, and a unique ID you can look up anytime.
  • Your dashboard shows exactly what you contributed, what it earned, and which trees it became.
  • Planting focuses on drought-affected zones — the red regions on your globe — where trees do the most work.

A note from the founder

“I started Senmorv with no funding and one conviction: the money we leave in bottles could be leaving forests instead.”
